PATROL DEPUTY PREREQUISITES

Salary ranges from $45,760.00 to $52,000.00 and salary does not include $4,429 KLEFPF incentive pay.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 21 years of age at the time of graduation from KY DOCJT Academy
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
  • Valid KY Operators License
  • Legally Possess a Firearm within State and Federal Laws
  • No Prior Felony Convictions or Pending Felony Charges
  • No Emergency Protective Orders or Domestic Violence Orders
  • Honorable Discharge or General Discharge with Honorable Conditions if Prior Military


Pass the KY Peace Officers Professional Standards Examination (POPS) which includes:

  • Drug Screen, Polygraph and Background Examination.
  • Physical Agility Test:
  •  Bench Press (% of body weight – conversion)
  •  Sit up Test (1 minute time limit)
  •  300 Meter Run
  •  Push up Test (2-minute time limit)
  •  1.5 Mile Run

COURT SECURITY OFFICER PREREQUISITES

  • Must be 21 years of age. 
  • Must hold a valid Kentucky Operators License.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Must not have any active Emergency Protection Orders or Domestic Violence convictions (from any state).
  • Must not have been convicted of a felony or other crimes involving moral turpitude.
  • Must have an honorable discharge if having served in the Armed Forces.
  • Must be able to attend training session and testing at sites other than Crittenden County.
  • Must complete ALL instructions and questions on application unless otherwise noted.
  • Application will be kept on file for one (1) year from date they are received.
  • Must successfully complete: Thorough background investigation, Drug screening test, Polygraph examination, Psychological and Suitability test as prescribed by KRS 70-140 (Court Security Professional Standards). 
  • Preference given to Honorably Discharged Veterans.
